DRCC's Faith Adventure program starts tomorrow Monday, June 24. We hope you can join us for it is going to be lots of fun! Please sign up on-line at www.deeprivercc.org. We are all decorated and ready for our guests to meet us in Athens!
Play Ball & Eat Tacos! Join the Cinco de Mayo celebration at DRCC on Sunday, May 5! The Sunday School will be stepping out of their classrooms and into the fresh air to play some outdoor games, followed by tacos with all the toppings! Mark your calendars and be sure to join us for a fun filled morning hosted by the Board of Christian Education! In the event of rain, we will hold this activity in the Lower Fellowship Hall.

This Sunday, April 28, is our Earth Day Parade in DRCC's back parking lot after the 10:00 service. Walk, stroll, roller skate, ride your bike, or pedal your scooter!! We encourage everyone to come join the fun as we also need spectators to dress up and bring noise makers to cheer on the parade participants! Grand Marshal, Art Robbins, will be awarding certificates in the following categories: Most Vintage, Most Patriotic, Most Original, Most Colorful, Most Earthy & BEST IN SHOW, plus new this year “Best Dressed” for Earth Day. All parade winners will receive a special treat, plus a certificate!! We hope you will celebrate earth-friendly transportation methods with us! EASTER EGG HUNT & RESURRECTION EGGS Join us this Sunday, April 14, for an Easter Egg Hunt for our Sunday School students! Eggs, filled with prizes, will be hidden by our 7th/8th Grade class who are prepping and overseeing this event. This Sunday is also Palm Sunday, where the children will be receiving Palms in class. In addition, teachers will be using our Resurrection Egg sets, where the children will hear a story and open eggs that contain a symbol of Jesus’ journey to the cross. Be sure to join us!
ST. PATRICK'S DAY CELEBRATION!! We will be having a celebration this Sunday for St. Patrick's Day. Donna Dione will be teaching the Sunday School Irish Step Dancing and we will have the kids perform on the stage as people are entering the Fellowship Hall after Church. Sunday School is also greeting and hosting both coffee hours with some Irish delights to include homemade Irish Soda Bread and Irish tea cookies. We will also serve Irish tea and coffee along with shamrock shakes and pretzel treats. Be sure to wear something green or dress in St. Patrick's Day attire!
Birds of Prey Sunday was a lot of fun at DRCC! The Christian Leadership Team made over 100 origami cranes and swans to give to the congregation as they entered church. Grace Krick, who volunteers at A Place Called Hope, greeted us with an Eastern Screech Owl. During Fellowship Hour bird theme treats were served to include egg in a nest, marshmallow Eagles, deviled eggs & gummy worms. The CLT also created an owl veggie tray and an owl made out of fruit. The children were also encouraged to make bird feeders! Due to everyone’s generosity and funds from the 2018 Sunday School Mission Fair, we were able to donate $597.72 to the bird rehabilitation center located in Killingworth.
Sunday School PJ Breakfast, Sunday February 24 @ 10:00 am! The kids will enjoy eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausage and more! Roll them out of bed and come to church to eat, all prepared by their teachers!

"SOUPER" BOWL OF CARING - Not a typo; just a great mission! Our Sunday School 5th/6th grade will be outside the Sanctuary on Super Bowl Sunday, February 3 for the annual collection of coins to benefit the Shoreline Soup Kitchens & Food Pantries. This is a youth driven collection that engages people to give of themselves to make a difference in someone's life. Please be sure to clean out those spare change areas to help fill our soup pot! SUNDAY’S CHILI COOK-OFF Warm up for the “Big Game” by joining us on the culinary gridiron in a battle of gastronomic proportions. Fourteen teams with be facing off in Fellowship Hall following the 10:00 service Sunday in our 6th Annual Sunday School Chili Cook Off. Come taste and vote for your favorite homemade chili. Your vote will help decide our “Chili Champion” for 2019. There will be both meat and vegetarian entries. What better way to start off the Super Bowl festivities than enjoying this delicious competition! ENJOY AND MAY THE BEST CHILI WIN!!!
BRING A FRIEND TO CHURCH Everyone is invited to Bring a Friend to Church on Sunday, February 3. Share our wonderful church with your friends, neighbors and relatives. Show them our beautiful Sanctuary and inspire them with our wonderful sermons. The children can join the excitement in our Sunday School and everyone can enjoy the Chili Cook-off! Let’s challenge ourselves to lead at least one person into worship on February 3!

FESTIVAL OF TREES Be sure to see DRCC's Green Team display at the Festival of Trees at the Stone House. The ornaments made by the Sunday School children are recycled Christmas cards, glued on recycled canning lids and attached to recycled ribbon pieces. REMEMBER TO VOTE FOR OUR TREE on December 8 from 3 pm - 8 pm at the Deep River Historical Society!!
THANK YOU! A big thank you to all who brought in non-perishable food for our Sunday School Food Challenge. We won with 30 bags for the Sunday School and 23 for the Congregation! All-in-all it is a wonderful donation to the Deep River Food Pantry.
9th Annual Sunday School Food Challenge - November 4 - COME FILL A SMART CAR!! (don't let the size fool you; they are bigger than you think!) That is right, this Sunday is our 9th Annual Sunday School Food Challenge and we are going to FILL A SMART CAR to the top, but we need your help! On the first Sunday of every month, our congregation collects non-perishable items to donate to the local food pantry. Our challenge to the children and youth of the church in November is to bring in more items than the congregation so will can fill a SMART CAR! WE CAN DO IT - IF EACH OF US DOES OUR PART AND BRINGS IN ONE OR TWO NON-PERISHABLE ITEMS!! Please consider donating tuna, peanut butter, jelly, mac & cheese, cereal, juice and canned fruit, which are needed at the pantry.
